The Telegraph considered Granit Xhaka to be Arsenal’s worst player against Chelsea last night, giving him a rating of five out of 10.“Got away with a couple of fouls on Hazard, but the midfielder was booked in the 50th minute for another late challenge on Rudiger,” they wrote about the midfielder.“It is still a mystery what Wenger sees in him.”The Swiss international struggled to make an impact as Arsenal managed a 0-0 draw against Chelsea in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.But his importance to Arsenal’s midfield has instantly increased with Jack Wilshere’s latest injury, the English midfielder coming off in the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring issue. The club’s supporters weren’t happy with Xhaka’s set pieces, in particular. Several were wasted in the first half.Yet the 25-year-old might not have been entirely focused on his delivery when you see how much stick he received when he went to take a corner.Fan footage has emerged that shows Xhaka was given a rough time of it from the home supporters.

What a Chelsea fan did at Xhaka's corner

The behaviour from Chelsea supporters wasn’t just limited to heckling, though.

Sky Sports’ cameras spotted one Chelsea fan trying to catch Xhaka out with the Circle Game.

For those who aren’t aware, the game, made popular from a 2000 episode of Malcolm In The Middle, involves an individual making an OK sign below the waist using their thumb and forefinger.

Then, if anyone looks at the gesture, they receive a punch on the arm.

Imagine if Xhaka had looked. By the rules, the fan would have free reign to lay a dig on his arm!

It’s not the first time someone has tried to catch an Arsenal player out with the Circle Game.

Back in October, an Everton ballboy became an internet sensation when he made the gesture as Alexis Sanchez was about to take a corner in the Gunners’ 5-2 victory at Goodison Park.

The Chilean started on the bench against Chelsea, fuelling reports that a move to Manchester City is imminent.

Arsene Wenger, however, said his decision to bench Sanchez - he would eventually come on in the second half - had nothing to do with speculation surrounding his future.

"I want him to stay longer," Wenger said, per BBC Sport. "I have no problem if he signs with us now or in June.

"You have to accept as well when you play so many games, and Sanchez plays every game, that sometimes a breather in the middle of the season helps them a little bit."
