Stephen Curry missed the Golden State Warriors' loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night as he suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury prior to the game.

The point guard sprained his right ankle again during the team's shootaround on Wednesday in what he described as a "freak" accident during a routine move, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

This latest blow comes after Curry only recently returned after missing 11 games with the same issue.

He has been in terrific form since coming back into the lineup and has resembled his MVP level from a few years ago, pouring in 35.2 points on 57.4 percent shooting from the field and 53.2 percent from three-point range.

The Dubs superstar was also producing 5.6 assists, and 1.4 steals over the five games which all resulted in wins.

But per Spears, the 29-year-old has eased the fears of Warriors fans by declaring that the injury isn't too serious and he expects to play against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.

Head coach Steve Kerr echoed the words of his star player and said it wasn't a major issue for them to worry about.

"I don't think it's serious. ... He tweaked it," Kerr said, per USA Today.

No MRI or X-rays are scheduled but the team will take a cautious approach with him.

"I didn't see anything," Kerr said before the game. "We just had a normal shootaround and he was in his usual game-day routine with Q (Bruce Fraser) and he just rolled his ankle somehow.

"Just kind of a fluke thing, kind of caught us off guard. It's unfortunate. Hopefully, it'll clear up in the next couple days."

The four-time All-Star's absence was clearly felt as the reigning champions were soundly beaten 125-106 by the Clippers.

Backcourt partner Klay Thompson was rested so the onus was on Kevin Durant to lead them offensively and he did a good job of it by dropping 40 points on a hugely efficient 14-of-18 shooting.

It was also a milestone night for the former Oklahoma City Thunder star as he became the second youngest player to reach 20,000 career points.

But the Bay Area franchise will hope that Curry's ankle problems haven't resurfaced after he was plagued by it during the early years of his career with the team.

The Oakland-based outfit is 10-2 without the two-time MVP but they know their chances of securing back-to-back championships depends heavily on his presence on the court.
