Former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort is ready to wrap up a nearly three-decade long career in mixed martial arts (MMA).

Belfort is scheduled to fight UFC middleweight Uriah Hall this Sunday at UFC Fight Night St. Louis. He has had several UFC title shots over his career against talents such as Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, and Chris Weidman.

He recently did an interview on the UFC Unfiltered podcast to discuss his fight, and revealed he'll be retiring after this weekend (quotes via LowKickMMA):

“I think we got to know the time to start and I think we need to know the time to end.”

“Life is about seasons, and I think you got to know the seasons. I think I did more than enough. Sometimes I flashback and say, ‘Wow I’m still doing this.

"Wow, it’s crazy.’ And I’m very thankful, but I think my body needs a rest.”

Belfort is a highly decorated mixed martial artist throughout the several years he has been involved in the sport.

With knockout wins over the likes of Luke Rockhold, Michael Bisping, Dan Henderson, and Wanderlei Silva - he's definitely one of the greatest of all time.

This isn't the first time that Belfort has thrown around rumors about retiring, so fans may take this announcement with a grain of salt. Regardless, if it truly is the end of Belfort's career inside the UFC's Octagon it will truly be the end of an amazing era.

If the UFC would like to retain the Brazilian they'll have to pay a hefty price tag. $10 million to be exact (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“$10 million or more, to start the conversation,” Belfort said. “That’s the number. And then we start talking.

“A lot of money. A lot of money. Many millions,” he continued. “Anyway, I will always train and dedicate myself.

"I have a lot of friends fighting, so I will always be prepared because I love doing this, this is my lifestyle, but it has to be very, very, very interesting because I’m happy with this decision.”

What are your thoughts on Belfort deciding to hang up his gloves after this weekend's fight against Uriah Hall? Do you think that it's time for the former UFC light heavyweight champion to hang up his gloves? Or does he have more left in the tank, and perhaps another UFC title run?
