There were a whole host of low moments during David Moyes ill-fated spell in charge of Manchester United. However, the nadir was arguably the shock 2-0 defeat that Manchester United suffered away at Olympiakos in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg in February 2014.Moyes’ side were not just beaten, they were beaten comfortably. It was one of the most lacklustre performances that Man Utd had ever produced in such an important match.Unfortunately for Moyes and the United players, Roy Keane was also inside the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus that night. The fiery Irishman, who is widely considered to be the best captain in United’s history, was on punditry duty for ITV Sport and pulled no punches after the final whistle.

Carrick gave a lifeless interview after the match

Keane, already fuming after watching United embarrass themselves against their Greek opponents, blew his top after Michael Carrick gave a lifeless post-match interview.

First of all, let’s watch Carrick’s interview back again…

Okay. Credit to Carrick for fronting up after such an embarrassing performance but, if anything, he probably made things worse with that interview.

Roy Keane tore into Carrick

Keane was certainly not amused.

“That interview was just like their performance: flat,” Keane said, while looking at Adrian Chiles with a face like thunder.

Asked what he wanted to see from Carrick’s interview, Keane continued: “Say a bit more! A bit more urgency in his interview.

“That just reflected United’s performance tonight: flat, no urgency. He keeps saying ‘next game, next game’ - for some of them there won’t be another game. That’s the reality of it.”

Many United fans agreed with Keane

Plenty of United fans on social media were in Keane’s corner after that match.

They knew that Keane would never have accepted a such a dismal performance from a Man Utd team.

Carrick's wife then blasted Keane on Twitter

However, things then took another turn when Carrick’s wife, Lisa, hit out at Keane on Twitter shortly afterwards.

She tweeted: “Roy Keane what a **** says anything to provoke a reaction .. That's all .. Done ..”

That tweet was then deleted.

She followed that up with another tweet which read: “'Deleted my tweet .. Emotions got the better of me .. Just disappointed.”

One suspects that Keane wouldn’t have been overly bothered by Mrs. Carrick’s original tweet.

She showed more fight with that one tweet than most of the United players that night.
