Make no bones about it, Jamie Carragher is a huge fan of Liverpool new boy Virgil van Dijk. When the £75 million move from Southampton was announced at the end of December, Carragher said the Dutchman was Liverpool's best defender. He did, however, explain that Van Dijk needs to get fitter if he's going to help Liverpool finish in the top four this season.Asked if Liverpool will secure Champions League football with Van Dijk, Carragher said: "Yes, it's more likely because they've now got a better defender than what they had before."But, I think looking at Van Dijk these last few months, I think he's got to get fitter. Maybe he could lose a few pounds as he's not been playing much."I'm not sure he'll go straight in. As we've seen, Klopp likes to rotate, and want to get him on the training ground and see him right."Once he does, I don't think he'll be dislodged."Carragher reckons Van Dijk needs to "lose a few pounds", which is an easier thing to say from behind a computer screen than in person. They met for the first time at Melwood earlier this week and Carragher was left astounded by just how big Van Dijk is.

Van Dijk is a great deal taller than Carragher at 6' 4" and the picture above just goes to show the difference in height.

And it would seem Carragher still isn't over it. He's just tweeted about the 26-year-old again and it has football fans in stitches.

In the tweet below, Carragher refers to Van Dijk as "Big Virg" alongside two photos of himself looking very, very small sat next to him and a scene from the Christmas film Elf.

It's genuinely so accurate. Here's how Twitter reacted to Carragher's latest tweet.
