It seems that Alexis Sanchez’s departure from Arsenal will come sooner rather than later. The Chilean, out of contract at the Emirates Stadium in the summer, has been linked with both Manchester clubs, and there was a huge U-turn in the saga today.Man City have always been the frontrunners to sign Sanchez - they came close to signing him on deadline day in the summer - but multiple reports claim the Premier League leaders are prepared to pull out of the race as they aren’t prepared to meet Arsenal’s demands. The Gunners want £35 million for Sanchez, and his agent wants £5m for his involvement in the transfer. City have spent ludicrous amounts of money in recent years but this is a step too far far in their eyes. And so it’s paved the way for Man United to make a move. Jose Mourinho described Sanchez as “phenomenal” when he spoke to the media today, and didn’t deny his interest in signing the 29-year-old."What we believe is there are some players in the football world where, if you have a chance to sign them, whether it is in January, March or July, then you have to try,” Mourinho said, per Sky Sports.

"In relation to Sanchez all I can say, which everyone else says, is that he is a phenomenal player. I feel I shouldn't say much more than this."

What Man United fans are tweeting Sanchez

It’s not hard to understand why Man United are being linked with a move for Sanchez. He remains a wonderful player and would immediately increase the quality of Mourinho’s squad.

Man United fans are doing all they can to convince Sanchez that Old Trafford is the perfect destination for him.

The winger is receiving plenty of tweets from eager supporters, telling him to become a Red Devil. One even suggested that Sanchez wouldn't get in the team at the Etihad, which could very well be true.

Could Mkhitaryan go to Arsenal?

It has been reported that Man United could offer Henrikh Mkhitaryan in exchange for Sanchez and that deal would make sense given the Armenian’s current predicament.

Mkhitaryan hasn’t completed 90 minutes since October and was subbed off at half-time in the recent FA Cup victory over Derby County, which prompted Mourinho to apologise to the playmaker.
