Jurgen Klopp has moved to put Liverpool fans' fears to rest after Philippe Coutinho's huge-money move to Barcelona.

The British transfer record was smashed by the Brazilian's departure to Catalonia for £142million this month and the result has been a mix of excitement with trepidation at Anfield.

The excitement has been clear to see among fans as rumours spread like wildfire about potential replacements.

Thomas Lemar, a player that Liverpool quite openly chased towards the end of the summer window, has been one of those and everything out of Monaco has been seized upon as the chase looks to heat up again.

Talk of Riyad Mahrez moving from Leicester popped up as soon as the ink was dry on the Coutinho deal, although any chance of that happening has been downplayed by those in the know at the club.

Perhaps the most hopeful transfer would be an early arrival for Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. A deal is already in place for him to move to Anfield at the end of the season, but Liverpool hope to tempt the East Germans to sell early with some extra cash.

Keita was one of two players that Liverpool chased all summer long - the other being their new number 4, Virgil van Dijk.

The duo are now the first and second most expensive signings Liverpool have ever made - but there lies the worry of many fans.

The Reds have never spent like they did in 2017 and that has led to suggestions that perhaps the money was only put on the table as they had a large influx of cash incoming from Barcelona.

Van Dijk and Keita's fees do approximately add up to the fee received for Coutinho, so it's easy to see why Liverpool fans would make the connection.

Klopp, however, assures fans that isn't the case.

“We will get all the money,” Klopp said. “Always since I’m in here we can have all the monies from transfers and more if needed.

"Since I’ve been in nobody told me ‘no way’. We talk about the age, the price, everything. It’s all good.

“So far we got all the players we wanted to have. If someone wanted to have other players then it’s my fault.

“You know I’m not a manager who goes to the owners and counts the money and says ‘look, this is what we’ve got, this is what we’ve spent, now we need that’.

“The owners are completely on my side. It is not that they say ‘You’ve got this but on the other hand we’ve done this and this and so you cannot spend’. Everything is fine. We have no money issues at this club."

The words will encourage fans that Coutinho's replacement (or replacements) are incoming, but Klopp did warn that it may not be in January.

“One player has left and it’s not too cool but it’s not a real problem at all," he added. "We will bring in other players, that’s for sure. If we do it in this window, I don’t know.”
