Barcelona have made all the headlines during the January transfer window thanks to their £145 million acquisition of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool. However, that's not the only deal the Blaugrana have completed during the winter window and their second transfer may be even more important in the future.Barca have brought in Yerry Mina from Palmeiras for around £10.5 million and the 6'5" defender is exactly what they need.
The Colombian is just 23-years-old, tall and atheltic and certainly comfortable on the ball.He was introduced to thousands of adoring fans at the Nou Camp on Saturday and showed his respect for his new club by taking his shoes and socks off before stepping onto the pitch for the very first time.He explained: "There is a saying in my country that says, 'Touch the land you want to conquer with the sole of your feet.' And here I want to make history with everyone. I always do it and I hope to succeed."Speaking to the press shortly after his move, Mina revealed what happened when he finally got to meet Lionel Messi. Oh, and Luis Suarez was there too.

"For me, he [Messi] is the best in the world. The first impression I got of him was one of humility. I got goosebumps when Messi approached me with Suarez in the dressing room," said Mina.

The nine-time Colombian international appears to be a direct replacement for the outgoing and China-bound Javier Mascherano and he intends to make the most of his opportunity.

Mina said: "I was given the opportunity to come now and I did not think twice. I'm going to work to bring something to the best players in the world.

"I'm calm. I came to work, to contribute, to be with the best. With the work that we will all do, I will fight to be at the World Cup. I have to go step by step. I have to do things well and fit well in the group."

As long as he doesn't get starstruck by Messi's brilliance every week, there's every reason to believe Mina can be an inspired signing.
