Last week, reports emerged stating that Paige's wrestling career in the WWE is over as she will not be cleared to return to compete in the ring by the company again following her neck injury at a recent WWE live event.
Paige was injured during a six-woman tag team match of Absolution members of herself, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville vs Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Mickie James.at a WWE live event at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island last month.
The Raven-Haired Renegade suffered a stinger after she was kicked in the back of her neck by The Boss. She went down hard and attempted to get up, but quickly fell back down before the match was stopped.
She had only recently returned last November after missing most of 2017 after having neck surgery in October 2016. The Leader of Absolution hasn't worked in the ring for WWE since the live event incident.
It was initially thought that Paige wasn't going to be cleared in time to compete in the women's Royal Rumble match. However, her head injury is said to be worse than originally thought, as reports have stated WWE will not clear her to compete in the ring again, with many describing this as similar to what happened with Edge‘s retirement.
In her first social media post since the reports emerged, Paige has made her fans emotional by posting out a symbolic black and white photo of her standing on the second rope in the corner of the ring and recognizing the crowd like she has done several times before.
Many fans believe this could be The Leader of Absolution's way of acknowledging the reports and saluting to the fact that her time in the ring as an active wrestler may be over. However, neither Paige or the WWE have confirmed her wrestling career is over.
Paige is expected to appear on Monday Night Raw tonight when WWE rolls into San Antonio, Texas. She confirmed this on her Instagram story, but in what role she will be used by the WWE remains unseen.
If the reports are true, and Paige's in-ring career is over, many believe she could move into a managerial role or another non-wrestling role as she's fantastic when it comes to talking on the mic. Still, just like for Edge, fans will be gutted that The Raven-Haired Renegade's time as an active wrestler in the WWE has come to an abrupt end.
