Notts County boss Steve Cotterill is determined to make sure his players don't lose focus after they took another step towards automatic promotion with a 5-0 demolition of Bury.

Mike Edwards fired the hosts into an early lead at Meadow Lane before Bury fell apart after the interval, with Craig Westcarr, Ben Davies, Lee Hughes and Delroy Facey on target.

It was County's seventh win in nine games since Cotterill took over in February and the former Burnley manager has yet to taste defeat at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies are now seven points behind Rochdale with a game in hand and Cotterill is not letting up his pursuit of the leaders.

He said: ``Easter is a big weekend and it was important that we got off to a good start.

``There was a 14 or 15 point gap on Rochdale when I joined, so we are chewing away at that nicely, but we concentrate on our own performance and don't worry about other teams.

``I have a target in mind but I haven't told the players, as I don't want to increase the pressure on them.

``We'll keep them focused game to game, and that's easy to do as they're such a great bunch of lads.''
