Another development in the possibility of this star has surfaced.

It’s been widely reported that former TNA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 could be headed back to the WWE. The reason for this is due to him free and clear to sign whichever promotion he wants.

Add in the fact that he has had a stint with the sports entertainment company in the past, makes sense for him to return.

EC3 finished up with the company at Saturday’s TV taping in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios. According to the Pwinsider.com, although his contract with the company was set to expire towards the summer, he is receiving an early release.

This has led to speculation and more reports that he would be signing with the WWE. The kicker is that there are a ton of rumors that he could make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble Match.

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured.

The plot has thickened as EC3 was reportedly seen at the WWE Performance Center this past Tuesday. It should be noted that he could appear at NXT Takeover: Philly or the Royal Rumble.

The NXT Takeover: Philadelphia event takes place on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will air on the WWE Network. Here is the updated card:

- NXT Title Match: Andre Almas © vs. Johnny Gargano

- NXT Women’s Title Match: Ember Moon © vs. Shayna Baszler

- NXT Tag Team Title Match: Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish © vs. Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe

Another to thing to keep in mind, former Impact Wrestling star Rockstar Spud, who was paired with EC3 while in the promotion and are good friends, tweeted out the following over the weekend:
