It feels like Peter Crouch has been around forever. The Stoke City and England forward turns 37 later this month and it can’t be too much longer before he calls time on his career. However, unlike many players who reach his age, Crouchy hasn’t lost his hunger or his love for football."Getting to a certain age where people are supposed to be retiring has made me hungrier," he told BBC Radio Stoke last summer. "I want to stay around for a lot longer yet. I love what I do."Coming in every day and playing football, then having a match at the end of it all, to work towards, is something that I've always loved and still want to do."

Crouch signed new Stoke contract this month

Crouch signed a new one-year contract with the Potters earlier this month and has so far scored four goals in 21 appearances this season.

He could be about to make a shock move

However, the veteran centre-forward could be about to make arguably the most surprising move of the season - and one of the most unexpected transfers in Premier League history.

According to the Mirror - and trust us, this is absolutely real - Antonio Conte is now considering bringing Crouch to Chelsea.

No, seriously.

Michy Batshuayi may have scored in Chelsea’s narrow FA Cup third round replay victory over Norwich City on Wednesday night but Conte is still desperate to replace the Belgian striker this month.

The Blues’ boss wants a targetman and appeared to have settled on West Ham’s Andy Carroll.

Conte is also reportedly considering a move for Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente - per the Independent - but has also set his sights on Crouch.

Huge reaction on social media

As you can probably imagine, there’s been a huge reaction to this hugely unexpected news on Twitter this evening…

Imagine Crouchy playing for Chelsea this season. He could be playing against Lionel Messi in the Champions League next month.

Please let this happen!
