On Thursday, the starters for the 2018 NBA All-Star game have been announced from both the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, and the captains for both teams were revealed as well.Of course, this year, the NBA All-Star game will be a little different, as no longer will it be an East vs West game. Instead, the league will be selecting two captains who will then select their own teams among the pool of All-Stars. These two captains will be the top vote leaders from their conference. With this in mind, let's take a look and which players from the Eastern and Western Conferences received the most votes, and which two players from those conferences will be captain of their respective teams in the All-Star game next month at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. From the Eastern Conference, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers received the most votes, while Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors received the most votes in the Western Conference. These two will be our team captains for the All-Star game on February 18.They will pick their teams from the pool of starters and reserves. Reserves will be selected by NBA head coaches and announced Tuesday, and the full team rosters will be announced January 25.The two star players of their respective franchises that have gone head-to-head in each of the past three NBA Finals will be going head-to-head once more in the All-Star game in Los Angeles next month, so this game is bound to be good.In the rest of the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo, Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid, Boston Celtics' Kyrie Irving, and Toronto Raptors' DeMar DeRozan were also selected as starters. As for the Western Conference, Houston Rockets' James Harden, Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant, and New Orleans Pelicans teammates Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins were also selected as starters. This is looking like a very strong pool of players for Curry and James to pick their teams from. The best thing about this year's system is that we could get some crazy teams, as well as teams we thought we would never see, such as Curry teaming with Antetokounmpo, James and Durant pairing up, or possibly James and Irving reuniting once more on the court.James will select ahead of Curry because he finished with the highest overall voting total. Nevertheless, Curry was still very grateful for the votes that he received.
