It's a fight that has left UK boxing fans drooling in anticipation for the last few years, so is Kell Brook vs Amir Khan finally about to happen?

Khan, despite having past fall-outs with promoter Eddie Hearn, has now repented and joined Hearn's Matchroom Boxing team which also includes, amongst others, Sheffield fighter Brook.

Judging by Brook's comments recently, the prospect of the two fighters locking horns looks closer than ever.

“It’s great news for boxing. We’re with the same team with Matchroom now, so surely it must happen now," said Brook.

"Surely it must happen this year. He’s saying it could be the third fight. I’ve been ready for a long time. Now we’re together in the same camp, let’s make it happen baby. Let’s make it happen.”

Brook, who was unbeaten before suffering defeats in his last two fights, one against 'Triple G' Gennady Golovkin after Brook stepped up to middleweight, and the other coming against Errol Spence, has recently confirmed his return to the ring will be on March 3 in his hometown.

He will face Sergey Rabchenko as he looks to get his career back on track.

Khan himself also lost his last fight after stepping up to fight at middleweight for the first time, he was beaten by Canelo Alvarez, who subsequently fought Golovkin in their controversial draw last year.

The Bolton man has already lined up his comeback fight for April 21, but as of yet, an opponent hasn't been named.

A potential stumbling block could be the weight, Brook's comeback is at junior middleweight whilst Khan's will be at welterweight.

But, can the two really miss out on once last huge payday?

Brook doesn't think so.

“We’re going to sit down, piles of money in the pot, and we sort it out when the time comes.

"When that fight is ready to happen. We’re all going to sit down and make it happen. Make it rain. That could be at catchweight, we don’t know."
