Spencer helpless in Shrimpers relegation battle

Published Add your comment

Southend striker Scott Spencer has been ruled out for the remainder for the season after a scan confirmed he had suffered ligament and tendon damage to his ankle.

The former Everton trainee clashed with Gary Richards during the 3-0 defeat by Gillingham on Monday and is now set to be out of action for at least four weeks.

The 21-year-old will play no further part in the Shrimpers' bid to avoid relegation from League One.
