In an enthralling encounter, Grigor Dimitrov managed to finally see off home-favourite Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round of the Australian Open. The Bulgarian won in four sets, each of his by tiebreak to seal a 7-6 7-6 4-6 7-6 victory, and a quarter-final match against Kyle Edmund, who is in the last eight of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.Dimitrov was serving for the match at one point but was broken by Kyrgios, who also missed an easy overhead shot into the net on break point in a hugely dramatic tussle. The result means 22-year-old Kyrgios missed the chance to equal his best ever performance in a Grand Slam, while Dimitrov's hopes of reaching a first ever final are alive and well.In dispatching the Australian, Dimitrov has continued his excellent form on the big stage after winning the Nitto ATP Finals at the back end of 2017.Another big factor for the world number three was that he got revenge on Kyrgios for the defeat he suffered to him at the Brisbane International earlier this month. And while Kyrgios can be a hothead, he acted with an awful lot of grace and class at the end of the match, when he could've been solely focused on his disappointment.Television cameras picked up the brilliant message that the Australian said to Dimitrov after the final point.

Kyrgios is pictured telling Dimitrov to "believe" at the end, which clearly shows just how highly the 22-year-old rates his opponent.

Having knocked Andy Murray out of Wimbledon when he was the defending champion in 2014, the Bulgarian has clearly got the fight and the ability to go all the way in this tournament, and it may come down to his self-belief.

But should he go all the way and win his first ever Grand Slam crown, it would be no surprise to anyone based on recent performances.

Both he and Edmund now have a brilliant chance to get themselves into the semi-finals in Melbourne, where they would face Rafael Nadal or Marin Cilic.
