Although his mixed martial arts (MMA) debut back in 2016 was unsuccessful, it looks like former WWE Champion CM Punk is going to get another crack at fighting in the UFC's Octagon.

Punk left WWE back in January of 2016 after growing fed up with part timers coming in and taking the main event of WrestleMania, being ignored by WWE's medical staff, and many more reasons. He later decided to sign a multi fight deal with the UFC and begin a career as a mixed martial artist.

"The Cult Of Personality" signed on to be a member of famed MMA gym Roufussport, who has trained UFC champs such as Anthony "Showtime" Pettis and Tyron Woodley. Punk has some of the best training partners one can ask for and a great coach in Duke Roufus.

He made his UFC debut in September of 2016 when he took on welterweight prospect Mickey Gall. Punk was immediately taken down and battered on the canvas with ground-and-pound before being forced to tap out to a rear-naked choke.

After the fight many expected Punk to quite and perhaps return to professional wrestling, but instead he insisted that he had fun inside the cage and wanted to try it again.

UFC President Dana White had initially been skeptical of letting Punk fight again and it was believed he could be cut from the promotion's roster. It seems, however, the UFC boss has now changed his mind.

White told The Associated Press that he plans on giving Punk one more shot inside the cage:

“I like that guy. He’s a good dude,” White told the Associated Press. “He wants one more. He wants to get another shot.

"I’m going to give it to him … He’s a completely different case than most normal human beings, so I’m going to give him another shot.”

As for who would challenge Punk in that fight is still up in the air, however, it would have to be someone as inexperienced as he is.

Current WWE Cruiserweight and former MMA fighter Jack Gallagher caught wind that CM Punk will fight again, and threw his name in the hat to possibly fight the ex-WWE star:

What are your thoughts on Gallagher calling out Punk to fight him in the UFC next? Do you think that this is a legitimate possibility? And will Gallagher take any backstage heat for this as he mentioned Punk who left the WWE on bad terms? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
