Barcelona have been pretty rampant in the transfer market of late.

Ever since Neymar left for Paris in a €222m deal, the Blaugrana have gone on the offensive, bringing in Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, Paulinho and Nelson Semedo.

If you add the re-signing of Gerard Deulofeu and the addition of Yerry Mina from Palmeiras, it makes for the biggest spree of spending by a single club ever seen in football.

What makes it even more remarkable? They might not be done there, with Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann also being linked with a mega-money move to the Nou Camp.

Surely, Barca do not need yet another superstar addition to their forward line, right?

Well, former Barcelona hero Eric Abdial has a very interesting opinion on the Griezmann links and the club's frivolous spending.

He's certainly not being biased.

ABIDAL SPEAKS OUT

"If you want Suarez, Messi and Griezmann, why sign Dembele?" he pondered on El Larguero, per Marca. "There are questions.

"Signing Coutinho means some will have to sit on the bench, that is why I say it is good to sign great players but it depends on the vision of the club.

"In football, the future is more important and it is better to have the best players in your team. Having a player like Griezmann in your team is always an advantage."

He has a point.

Barca appear to be getting greedy and the addition of Griezmann would surely further hinder Dembele's settling in process, which has already been interrupted twice by injury.

Abidal spoke of his French compatriot and said he's happy to give him time to adjust at Barca.

"[Dembele] is very young and has a lot of talent," added Abidal. "We are all waiting for him to return to his best.

"I don't doubt his performances and the work that he will do at the club. It is very difficult to change team; the body has to adapt and his diary and nutrition will be different."
