Enzo Amore's time with WWE came to an end earlier this week, but it looks like he tried to get out of the company beforehand.

After recent serious allegations were levied against him on social media, the WWE initially announced they had released Enzo Amore.

In a statement they released earlier this week after suspending Amore, the WWE wrote this about the situation:

"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault. Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt (aka Enzo Amore) has been suspended."

Nearly 24 hours after that statement WWE officially announced that they had come to terms with their Cruiserweight Champion's release from the company in another press release:

"WWE has come to terms on the release of Eric Arndt (Enzo Amore)."

It turns out that before that release took place, Amore was actually trying to get out of his deal beforehand. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that Amore actually tried to drop his WWE deal to focus on a full-time rapping career.

Meltzer now says that Amore can pursue a rapping career since he was released from WWE and also could make good money on the independent wrestling scene as well.

Amore was signed by WWE  in 2012 with no wrestling experience. He made several promos on a video compilation and sent it Triple H through a mutual friend.

That mutual friend was Joe DeFranco, who Amore trained with at DeFranco's Training Systems gym in New Jersey. Amore had been training with DeFranco since he was 16, and Triple H had also trained with DeFranco throughout the years.

Amore was signed to an NXT deal and later paired with Big Cass to form a huge fan favorite tag team. In 2016 they were called up to the main roster where they were one of the top teams on Monday Night RAW.

After being unable to capture the RAW Tag Team Titles, Cass turned on Amore and the pair split their separate ways a singles competitors. Amore was eventually moved to 205 Live as a Cruiserweight and would defeat Neville to capture the division's title.

In the middle of his title reign, however, WWE has now decided it was best to release Amore in light of recent serious allegations.
