Charlton will check on Deon Burton`s groin injury ahead of the crucial home game against Phil Parkinson's former club Colchester.

The Addicks' 13-goal top scorer failed a fitness test on his groin injury ahead of Saturday's defeat at Southampton which dented their hopes of automatic promotion.

Rob Elliot (groin) is still out so Darren Randolph continues in goal while full-backs Grant Basey (ankle) and Kelly Youga (knee) and forward Leon McKenzie (thigh) remain on the sidelines.

Valley boss Parkinson, who guided the Us to promotion from League One in 2006, must decide whether to recall teenage midfielder Jonjo Shelvey after dropping him to the bench at St Mary's.

Scott Wagstaff, David Mooney and Akpo Sodje are also pushing for recalls.

Colchester will be without Anthony Wordsworth for the trip.

The young midfielder scored twice in Saturday's 3-0 win over Swindon but was booked for the 10th time this season for celebrating in front of the away fans and now starts a two-match ban.

Defender Franck Queudrue missed out at the weekend due to the hamstring strain he suffered against Millwall on Easter Monday and will undergo a late fitness check.

Striker Kayode Odejayi is expected to sit out again with the foot injury which has sidelined him for the last three weeks.

The Us are now behind sixth-placed Huddersfield on goal difference alone after registering their first win in nine attempts against Swindon.
