We are just a day away from the biggest event of the winter.

That event is Royal Rumble, which takes place via pay-per-view on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured.

With the event coming up soon, we thought we would take a look back at what could be the best Royal Rumble match in the history of the sports entertainment company.

That event is the 1992 Royal Rumble PPV, which took place on January 19, 1992, at the Knickerbocker Arena in Albany, New York.

This match marked the first time that the last man standing would win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which had been vacated in December 1991. This match was stacked to say the least.

Other matches that were featured on the card were The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon) versus The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) for the WWE Tag Team Title, The Beverly Brothers (Blake and Beau) versus The Bushwhackers (Luke and Butch) and Roddy Piper versus The Mountie for the WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Title.

There were some of the biggest names featured in this bout and wow did it pull off a great great match. Here is a list of talents that worked the match:

The British Bulldog, Ted Dibiase, Ric Flair, Jerry Sags, Haku, Shawn Michaels, Tito Santana, The Barbarian, The Texas Tornado, Repo Man, Greg Valentine, Nikolai Volkoff, Big Boss Man, Hercules, Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, Jim Duggan, Irwin R. Schyster, Jimmy Snuka, The Undertaker, Randy Savage, The Berserker, Vigil, Col. Mustafa, Rick Martel, Hulk Hogan, Skinner, Sgt. Slaughter, Sid Justice, and The Warlord.

Here are the quick results from this historic event from the sports entertainment company:

The New Foundation def. The Orient Express

Roddy Piper def. The Mountie (new Intercontinental Champion)

The Beverly Brothers def. the Bushwhackers

The Natural Disasters def. World Tag Team Champions Legion of Doom via count-out

Ric Flair last eliminates Sid Justice to win the Royal Rumble Match and become WWE Champion

This year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view event will have a hard time beating the 1992 event.
