Normally the bookmakers have quite a good handle on who will and who won't win at the WWE events.

While many might think it's a leak that Vince McMahon ought to fix, there have been plenty of times where the WWE has swerved the bookmakers last minute, too.

Anyone remember Zack Ryder's intercontinental title win at WrestleMania 32? Or how about Brock Lesnar breaking the Undertaker's WrestleMania streak at the 30th edition of the event?

Still, the bookies did manage to reveal that Randy Orton would win the Royal Rumble last year, and thus, WWE fans and punters alike have been keeping a keen eye on the odds this year.

The early favourites were John Cena and and Ronda Rousey for the men's and women's Rumble matches respectively.

Cena is still the third favourite with Betfair and in the top five with other bookmakers, but it is now believed that the Cena versus Undertaker bout will finally happen at WrestleMania and they do not need to win the Rumble to set that up.

Rousey is currently in Colombia filming a movie and it seems almost impossible she could make it back to Philadelphia to be in the match after posting an image from the set. But, never say never.

Asuka has replaced the former UFC champion as the favourite for the inaugural women's Rumble and her Japanese compatriot Shinsuke Nakamura has led betting for the men's event all week long.

However, another name has now rocketed to the top of the bookies' lists on the day of the Rumble, and that name is Braun Strowman.

The Monster Among Men is already in the WWE Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar and fellow challenger, Kane.

However, reports have suggested Strowman may attack someone backstage and steal their spot in the Rumble - probably in the final five places - and go on to win the whole event.

One would think that sets up a triple threat with Roman Reigns and Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, but if Vince McMahon has his heart set on Reigns and Lesnar going at it one-on-one and Lesnar passing the torch, it doesn't make much sense.

It's been common belief that Strowman would face Triple H at WrestleMania and his Survivor Series moment with The Game alluded to as much.

Still, if he is the favourite with the bookmakers, chances are they know something we don't...
