Manchester United supporters were understandably thrilled when it was announced that Zlatan Ibrahimovic had signed a one-year contract extension with their club back in August. The veteran Swedish forward had temporarily ‘left’ the club at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, although his continued his rehabilitation at Carrington after suffering a career-threatening knee injury against Anderlecht several months earlier.Ibrahimovic finally made his return to action on November 18, replacing Anthony Martial in a 4-1 win over Newcastle United, a much quicker recovery than anybody - doctors included - had anticipated. The 36-year-old, who scored 28 goals in 46 matches for United last season, continued to be used as a substitute by Jose Mourinho until he was handed his first start of the campaign against Bristol City in the Carabao Cup last month. It soon became apparent, however, that Zlatan was miles off the pace; a shadow of the striker who’d scored goals for fun throughout the previous decade.Although he scored United’s goal in the shock 2-1 defeat at Ashton Gate, this was undoubtedly a concerning performance from one of the game’s legendary characters.

A week later and is revealed that Zlatan was continuing to suffer from knee trouble, prompting Mourinho to inform reporters: “The same [knee]. A massive problem. He is a 36-year-old with a bad knee.”

We haven’t seen Ibra in a United shirt since.

ESPN: Zlatan close to sealing move to new club

And now it’s being reported, by ESPN, that the hugely experienced forward could be on his way to a new club outside of the Premier League.

Yep, it seems Zlatan may have already made his final appearance for the Red Devils.

ESPN understand that Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy have moved a significant step closer towards signing the player.

He will be signed with the help of “targeted allocation money”, which means he will not take up a designated player spot in LA Galaxy’s squad.

United’s recent purchase of Alexis Sanchez has left Ibrahimovic further down the pecking order, hence why Galaxy have made their move.

The MLS club were close to striking a deal for the enigmatic striker last year, only for the knee injury to scupper the deal.

But it seems the Galaxy are still determined to bring him to the StubHub Centre, with one source telling ESPN that progress towards a deal is "the furthest along it has ever been."
