Kris Taylor kept Port Vale's play-off charge on track with a 40-yard stunner to secure a 2-1 win at Accrington.

Valiants striker Craig Davies opened the scoring with a solo effort when he raced onto Doug Loft's ball, shrugged off Darran Kempson and finished into the top corner after 35 minutes.

He should have had another just before half-time when he drew keeper Ian Dunbavin off his line but his chip was narrowly wide.

Dunbavin made a number of good saves to deny Louis Dodds and Loft while Valiants keeper Chris Martin was a virtual spectator.

However it was a different story seven minutes after the break as Bobby Grant got the ball 30 yards out and volleyed into the net for the equaliser.

Stanley captain Andy Procter was then denied from six yards out by Martin. But then came the spectacular winner with Taylor rifling the ball into the roof of the net after 65 minutes.
