What Suarez did to an Alaves player

In the 85th minute, Suarez was being marked closely by Alaves defender Ruben Duarte from a corner.

The 22-year-old defender was left in a heap on the floor and replays showed that Suarez intentionally kicked him in the stomach.

The Barcelona striker has earned a reputation for biting his opponents so Duarte might consider himself lucky.

Fans want Suarez banned

The commentators didn't seem to notice what Suarez did but fans on Twitter certainly picked up on it.

Even Barca fans couldn't defend his actions

Suarez will be praying that VAR isn't introduced in Spanish football.

Barcelona have eight games in February - including a Copa del Rey semi-final against Valencia and a Champions League meeting with Chelsea - so will be thankful that the referee didn't spot Suarez's moment of madness.

"We are achieving our objectives as a team and at an individual level I am very happy," Suarez said to reporters after the game, as per Marca. "In the second half we knew what we had to do and we got three points."

Alaves were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty late on but Suarez insisted that the referee should've given him a penalty too.

"The ball hits Samu's [Umtiti] hand they are difficult situations in which the referee decides," Suarez noted. "But in the first half I should've been given a penalty too."
