Liverpool fans react to Aubameyang deal on Twitter

Arsene Wenger is set to make the 28-year-old Arsenal's new club-record signing and Gooners are very excited at the idea of Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang linking up once again.

Meanwhile, Liverpool made Virgil van Dijk their club record signing at the beginning of January - but they still have plenty of money in the bank following the £142m sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

Asked whether he expected the club to complete any more deals this month, Jurgen Klopp said on Friday: "It’s not really likely."

The Reds have lost back-to-back games against Swansea City and West Brom - and the imminent arrival of Aubameyang in north London is causing plenty of unrest amongst Liverpool supporters on social media.

You can understand their frustration.

Coutinho has not been replaced despite the £142m windfall and Klopp is still relying on the substandard duo of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius between the sticks.

Anything but a win at home to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night will surely force Liverpool into a panic deadline day signing.

“Liverpool just weren’t good enough,” Gerrard told BT Sport after Saturday's shock 3-2 defeat at Anfield. “It could have been more goals for West Brom.

“This club is about winning trophies. To get knocked out of this competition is a big blow for Klopp and a big blow to the team. This was their chance at silverware.

“That’s the worst I’ve seen Liverpool here this season.”
