After beating the previously undefeated Manchester City in the first match since Philippe Coutinho’s departure, Liverpool fans would be forgiven for thinking they didn’t need to replace the Brazilian. However, that incredible 4-3 victory was followed up with a 1-0 loss against Swansea and a 3-2 defeat to West Brom at Anfield in the FA Cup.Suddenly, Liverpool supporters are desperate for Klopp to spend some of the £142 million they received for Coutinho. The Reds are still fourth in the table and hope to qualify for the Champions League once again. But having crashed out of the FA Cup, they’re staring at yet another trophyless season - unless they can win the Champions League or overhaul Manchester City’s 18-point lead over them in the league.Yeah, that’s highly unlikely. But making sure they qualify for next season’s Champions League is now the aim. And they will have to hold off the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal to do so.But both of the north London sides are looking to strengthen their respective squads with Lucas Moura close to joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side and Arsenal looking to add Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Will Liverpool follow suit in the coming days before the end of the transfer window? No, it seems.

WHAT KLOPP SAID ABOUT REPLACING COUTINHO

That question was asked to Jurgen Klopp during his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's visit to Huddersfield on Tuesday and the German appeared to rule out any incomings at Anfield before the deadline.

“Philippe Coutinho is not to be replaced in this transfer window,” Klopp admitted. “We have to stop thinking, it's not about replacing anybody. It's about using our own opportunities, tools, players, tactics, all that stuff.”

And it’s fair to say those comments from Klopp didn’t go down too well at all. Just check out the reaction on Twitter from angry fans:

You can’t really blame them for being angry, to be honest.

It’s coming up to six years since Liverpool last won a trophy and it seems another fourth-placed finish is about the best they can hope for right now.
