Torquay boss Paul Buckle feels his side are finding some consistency at the perfect time after they saw off play-off hopefuls Aldershot 2-0 at the EBB Stadium.
Torquay, who thrashed Rochdale 5-0 at the weekend, moved nine points clear of the League Two drop zone thanks to goals from Elliot Benyon and Scott Rendell.
"Sometimes when you get a win like we did on Saturday you get fearful over what is going to come next," a delighted Buckle said.
"That was a big worry for me that we would get nowhere near that level. But the players went out there and certainly did not let me down."
He added: "I thought we were in control for the majority of the game. We scored two good goals and could have got more. I have been saying for quite a while that our performance levels have been good, it has just been the odd bounce here and there.
"But we are turning nearlys into wins now and that makes a massive difference. We know we are nearly safe but we will just concentrate on ourselves as that is all we can affect."
