Notts County manager Steve Cotterill was left "proud and humble" after seeing his team defeat Lincoln 3-1 on Tuesday to go top of the League Two table, one point above rivals Rochdale.

Goals from Lee Hughes, Graeme Lee and Delroy Facey helped County cancel out Steven Lennon's goal for Lincoln, who played the majority of the match with 10 men following Moses Swaibu's 16th minute red card.

"It is a nice feeling to be top and when I get home I'm turning on every television and finding the league table," said the 45-year-old.

"Getting to the top was always the target, but I'll admit we've got there quicker than I expected. I'm proud and humbled to get there, but we want to kick on and try to win the title."

He added: "They are a resilient bunch and although we were frustrated in the first half, I thought we concentrated more after the break, got our free-flowing football going and in the end we should have scored more than three."
