It's been a week since Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were involved in one of the biggest and most controversial transfer deals in Premier League history.

Sanchez, having spent three and a half years at Arsenal, put pen to paper on a mega £600,000-per-week contract to join Manchester United.

And heading in the other direction was Mkhitaryan, who never quite hit the ground running at United but now has the chance to reignite his career at Arsenal.

Fans are very much divided over who got the better end of the deal and in truth, only time will tell, with Mkhitaryan set to make his debut for Arsenal on Tuesday night against Swansea City.

Arsenal's style of play certainly suits the Armenian better and it could get even better for him should former teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join him from Borussia Dortmund.

Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang were devastatingly good for Dortmund during the 2015/16 season and could have the same impact for Arsenal.

As for United and Jose Mourinho, they'll be delighted with the business they've conducted this January transfer window.

They've signed a world-class winger who may be the final piece of the puzzle where their ambitions to win the Premier League are concerned.

So everyone seems pretty happy, yet there's one man who actually sounds quite sad about Mkhitaryan leaving United: Juan Mata.

Mata is widely regarded as the nicest man in football and he's once again proved why that's the case with a heartwarming goodbye message to his former teammate.

In his weekly blog - which you can read in full HERE - the Spaniard described Mkhitaryan as a "great talent" and someone who deserves the best. He wrote:

"I don't want to forget to wish the best of luck once again to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a footballer with great talent and a friend that deserves all the good things that happen to him. Enjoy in your new club and see you soon!"

What a hero. Mata also discussed Sanchez's move in his blog, saying: "For Alexis Sanchez, that game (against Yeovil Town) meant his debut as a Red Devil.

"His arrival is great news because a player of his level always raises the competition within the team and our competitiveness. He's a great player and I'm sure that he will help us a lot."
