The Los Angeles Clippers shocked the NBA world on Monday night when they agreed to trade superstar Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons in a blockbuster deal. The Clippers will receive Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a first and second-round draft pick.It comes as a huge as a surprise just months after L.A. re-signed Griffin to a five-year $171 million contract in free agency. The franchise made a huge pitch to convince the power forward to commit his future to them but have now offloaded him less than a year into his huge contract."Blake Griffin had a tremendous impact on this organisation and his legacy within the community of Los Angeles will be permanent," Clippers owner Steve Ballmer said in a statement released by the team."It was a pleasure getting to know and cheer for Blake. I wish him, as well as Brice and Willie, the best of luck."While change is hard, my confidence in our front office, led by Lawrence Frank and Michael Winger, along with the sage counsel of Jerry West, has never been higher. I believe today, more than ever, in our ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship."The news will be a bitter pill for Blake to swallow as he expected to be a "Clipper for life" and was convinced of remaining in Los Angeles after an extravagant presentation by Ballmer and members of the front office in the summer. As you'd expect, the biggest trade ahead of the upcoming deadline sent shockwaves through the NBA and it sent social media into a frenzy. Here are some of the best reactions:

Even Blake himself took to Twitter to post an interesting reaction:

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, talks over a potential deal started six days ago between the two parties before things accelerated on Monday.

With this move, the Pistons will significantly improve their chances of securing a playoff berth.

"We are serious about winning, and this is a major move to improve our team," Pistons owner Tom Gores said in a statement. "Blake Griffin is one of the NBA's elite players, and when you get an opportunity to add that kind of talent, you take it."

They will hope that the 28-year-old can form a devastating frountcourt partnership with fellow All-Star Andre Drummond.

Drummond welcomed his new teammate to Detroit with a post on Instagram which indicated just how much he's looking forward to teaming up with the athletic forward.

Griffin is averaging 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists this season but has dealt with injuries again.

His career had been marred by health issues and the Clippers ultimately felt it was the right decision to part with him. Their loss could well be Detroit's gain.
