Going into their match against Swansea, confidence was high at Arsenal.Henrikh Mkhitaryan was on the bench and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on the verge of signing. And when Nacho Monreal put them 1-0 up at a very wet Liberty Stadium, it looked as though they were set to re-ignite their top-four hopes. But within seconds, Sam Clucas had equalised for the home side.Mkhitaryan’s introduction on the hour mark excited the travelling Gooners but they were soon about to be silenced in incredible fashion. The troubles started when Monreal naively allowed the ball to run out for a throw-in when he probably should have just kept it in. Then, his throw to Shkodran Mustafi was far from ideal. The German was put under immediate pressure and had to give the ball back to Petr Cech - who was now being closed down by two Swansea attackers. And, as the goalkeeper attempted to clear the ball long, he managed to scuff his kick straight to the grateful Jordan Ayew, who made no mistake from close range. It was simply awful.Even if you saw a Sunday league team concede a goal like that, you’d be shocked.

And it’s fair to say Arsenal fans were absolutely furious at the way they gave Swansea a shock lead. Check out the reaction:

Arsenal’s defeat leaves them eight points adrift of Liverpool in fourth-place and three points behind Spurs - who have a game in hand against Manchester United on Wednesday.

Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang might have arrived but it seems the north London club have a very tough task to achieve a top-four finish this season.
