All eyes were on Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Arsenal's trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night. The 29-year-old was involved in one of the most high-profile transfers in recent Premier League history, waving goodbye to Manchester United in a spectacular swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.Mkhitaryan had fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and certainly raised eyebrows by moving to a club without Champions League football but could soon be reunited with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.Arsene Wenger didn't throw the Armenian straight into the action at the Liberty Stadium, allowing Alex Iwobi, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil to lead the line. The triumvirate enjoyed mixed success in the first-half. Nacho Monreal launched Arsenal into a 33rd minute lead from a sensational Ozil pass, only to be pegged back a minute later by Sam Clucas.

Arsenal struggle at the Liberty Stadium

That's how the score remained until half-time and with 30 minutes left to play, Wenger rolled the dice and gave the travelling Arsenal fans their first glimpse of Mkhitaryan.

And boy did they need him. Mkhitaryan had barely stepped on the Welsh turf as Swansea fired themselves into the lead with Jordan Ayew profiting from a Petr Cech horror show.

You simply couldn't write it and, unsurprisingly, Manchester United fans were loving it but not out of general schadenfreude. The painful coincidence led to them to recall what many considered a subtle jibe from Mkhitaryan after his Arsenal move.

"I've known him for a long time and of course it was not very difficult to make this decision to come to Arsenal, because I think the way that Arsenal play [makes] it a dream for every player to come here and play offensive football," the Armenian had said.

"Offensive football" comments come back to bite

An unintentional comment or disguised jab at Jose Mourinho's style of football? Nobody knows but United fans certainly didn't care - check out the reaction:

You've got to feel sorry for Mkhitaryan in this instance and a lot of Arsenal fans did for that matter.

It goes to show that Arsenal, for all their promising spending on attacking players, still have underlying problems in their defence that could probably do with greater attention.

Mkhitaryan had very little chance to impress in attacking positions and with Clucas adding a third late on for Swansea, he had very little to celebrate at all.

One game in and Manchester United fans are having the last laugh.
