So it’s official. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is an Arsenal player. The Gabon international completed his move to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday morning for a club record fee of £56 million.“Our second signing of the January transfer window, Auba is one of the world’s most highly-rated strikers,” Arsenal wrote on their website.“He scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games for Dortmund and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions for his former club.”The news of Aubameyang’s arrival has certainly helped supporters forget about last night’s embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Swansea City.According to The Guardian’s David Hytner, Aubameyang was “undeterred” by the loss.

Arsenal referenced his incredible goalscoring record in Germany and Aubameyang’s arrival certainly helps to lift morale around a squad that is seemingly heading nowhere.

The Gunners are eight points behind fourth-placed Liverpool but with Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on board, they’re not about to give up on finishing in the automatic Champions League places.

Lewandowski has tweeted Aubameyang

His departure from Dortmund means an end to his incredible battle with Robert Lewandowski, the pair battling it out to be crowned the Bundesliga’s top scorer in recent seasons.

Lewandowski has sent a classy tweet to Aubameyang in the wake of his move to Arsenal that shows just how much he enjoyed their battles.

“Good luck @Aubameyang7 It was a pleasure to compete with you. Only a healthy fight is pushing us forward. 👊,” the Polish striker wrote.

Dortmund haven’t posed a threat to Bayern Munich this season - there is a 19-point gap between the two sides - but Aubameyang’s departure will go down well at the Allianz Arena.

How Arsenal announced the transfer

Arsenal announced the signing with a video of Mkhitaryan asking his former Dortmund teammate to join him in north London, a video that actually emerged last week.

Dortmund were actually the first to announce the deal, with their sporting director Michael Zorc saying: "Apart from the unpleasant happenings of the last few weeks we like to remember that the story of Aubameyang at BVB was a success story for more than four years.

"He's done great things for the club and scored a lot of important goals. He was part of the cup winning team in 2017. We wish him all the best."
