With Kevin Love ruled out for two months with a broken hand, another All-Star spot has opened up in the Eastern Conference and the league will have an interesting decision to make for his replacement. One player who will definitely be considered is Charlotte Hornets star Kemba Walker who is enjoying another impressive season. The point guard made his first appearance at last year's showpiece event in New Orleans and has stated that he would love to be given the nod to replace the injured Love.In his team's latest outing against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, the 27-year-old made a strong case to commissioner Adam Silver.Walker was lights out as he inspired the Hornets to a dominant 123-110 win over the Hawks with a historic shooting performance. He posted 38 points and hit a career-high nine three-pointers. This also set a franchise record for the most threes in a single game.

Kemba was 12-of-20 overall from the field and added six assists and two rebounds en route to victory.

"The ball was just falling. I got great looks and I was able to just knock them down," Walker said, per ESPN.

The former Connecticut product has always been a steady shooter from beyond the arc but it's rare to see him have so much joy from downtown.

He's a career 35 percent shooter from range and is not usually this potent, but his hot night set the tone for the Hornets and Atlanta couldn't cool him down.

"When the game got going up and down, he was unbelievable," head coach Steve Clifford said.

Surprisingly, Walker has been the subject of trade rumours recently with owner Michael Jordan admitting that they would offload him if they got a proven All-Star in return.

This performance was a reminder of what they would be losing if they inconceivably decided to ship him.

He has been the franchise player in North Carolina for several years and has been hugely productive during that time.

The one knock on Walker is his failure to consistently lead the Hornets to the playoffs. He's only featured in the postseason twice in six years and they will struggle to secure a berth this campaign.

Charlotte is currently 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 21-29 record and will need a strong winning run in the second half of the season to claim a playoff spot.

But with Walker putting up big numbers of 22.4 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and Dwight Howard playing at a high level again, they could have an outside chance, but it will be a mountain to climb.
