After a hectic few days in the transfer market, it was good to get back to real football on Wednesday evening.

Three games took place on Tuesday, but the headline mid-week fixture saw Tottenham welcome Manchester United to Wembley the following day and the game lived up to all the hype.

Spurs ran out 2-0 winners, with Christian Eriksen scoring the second fastest goal in the history of the Premier League, timed at around 11 seconds.

Jose Mourinho got his tactics all wrong, with the 'Special One' subbing off Paul Pogba around the hour mark, the first time he has ever done so when his side are losing.

Jesse Lingard's position was also altered at half-time to accommodate Alexis Sanchez, with the Chilean turning in a woeful display on his Premier League bow for the Red Devils.

But, what was Mourinho's worst decision?

Well, judging by the excellent tactical analysis from YouTube's Nouman, his choice to not give additional support to Ashley Young really was his undoing.

Just watch below and see for yourselves.

VIDEO: BRILLIANT TACTICAL ANALYSIS

A stroke of genius from Pochettino.

His decision to allow Kieran Trippier the freedom to operate a lot further forward and team up with Eriksen put Young to the sword.

Phil Jones simply could not cope with the shrewd movement of Eriksen, while his tactic to push Ben Davies into a back three when Trippier was forward was necessary to maintain their defensive solidity.

Mourinho's defence was too narrow throughout, handing the initiative to Spurs, who took advantage with almost a six-man attack, with Eric Dier the lone soul back preventing counter attacks.

MOURINHO'S ASSESSMENT OF UNITED

Safe to say, the United boss was not happy with his team.

“I don’t think it’s very normal to concede a goal [at the start] like we did,” Mourinho said. “After the kick-off, it’s ridiculous. It is especially ridiculous because the players – they watch it before, we analyse opponents and work on opponents’ dynamics and routines.

“We don’t press the ball. One mistake. We don’t win the ball in the air. Second mistake. We don’t win the second ball on the ground.

"Third mistake. We don’t cover inside, the full-back inside, when Eriksen comes. Four mistakes. Four mistakes and you are losing 1-0 against a good team. The second goal, I don’t say ridiculous, I just say unlucky.”

Some big changes are needed for United's next big game.
