Manchester City's four-month-long victory parade to the Premier League title was showered in confetti yet again after their closest challengers Manchester United dropped points after a disastrous evening at Wembley against Tottenham.Pep Guardiola's rampant side now sit a staggering 15 points ahead of their Manchester rivals with just 13 games to play in the season. The Citizens have lost just once in what has been a relentless march towards Guardiola's first league title in England. Only Liverpool have managed to stop City and even that looks to have been only a minor blip in what has been an incredible season. It really would have to go quite horribly wrong for City to lose it from here, and with the Premier League title all but wrapped up, it's no wonder that City's star-studded squad are playing with one eye on this summers FIFA World Cup in Russia.Of late, it seems that City's opposition have decided that if they cant beat them, then rather mow them down instead. Leroy Sane has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks after an absolute shocker of a challenge from Cardiff City's Joe Bennett that even prompted the German FA to send out a tweet reminding opposition players of the upcoming FIFA showpiece.

Kevin De Bruyne was also lucky to come out unharmed after a dreadful, potentially season-ending challenge against West Brom in midweek while winger Brahim Diaz also fell afoul of an unruly challenge in the same game.

Now Raheem Sterling has spoken out against the dangerous antics he and his teammates have been subjected to, feeling that referees aren't doing enough to protect the City players even going as far as to say they're getting 'butchered' out on the field.

"Some of the players are getting butchered out there and it's sad to see," Sterling said.

"There are going to be challenges that are badly timed and probably not all of them are intentional, but if it's a dangerous tackle it's a dangerous tackle and the referees and officials need to cut these tackles out.

"I find it unfair at times. We haven't been protected enough in certain situations."

Sterling then went on to point out that the blatant disregard for other players safety is endangering a potential appearance at the upcoming World Cup which is only months away.

"The majority of the players in the top flight and in our team will be playing in it and it would be sad to see someone miss the tournament due to a silly tackle," he finished.
