Arsenal fans are understandably very excited to see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang make his debut in red and white following his £56 million move from Borussia Dortmund.

Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud's respective departures meant the Gunners needed to make a statement and they did so by signing one of the world's best strikers right now.

But on Friday, not even 48 hours on from Aubameyang's arrival, bad news struck: the Gabon striker had picked up an illness and was a doubt for Saturday's game against Everton.

Arsene Wenger said in his pre-match press conference: "Aubameyang was sick as well so we have to assess him today.

"Certainly [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan will start. That's a possibility, yes. Aubameyang, I have to assess how he is physically today and how well he feels.

"He had sickness, a fever. He couldn't train a lot, he started [on Thursday]. He was still not completely well so I have to assess and see with the medical department."

It's hoped Aubameyang will help Arsenal on the goalscoring front and also ease the pressure on the shoulders of Alexandre Lacazette, who has struggled since joining last summer.

Moreover, Arsenal fans want to see Aubameyang form an understanding with Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who he played alongside for Dortmund in 2015/16.

Saturday's game represents the perfect opportunity for Arsenal's fantastic four to play together for the first time and fresh signs suggest Aubameyang will be able to make his debut.

According to the Daily Mail, over the past 24 hours, the 28-year-old has taken steps towards guaranteeing his place in the squad to face Everton.

Aubameyang was due to appear in German court on Monday to give evidence on the Borussia Dortmund team bus bomb attack, but he was too ill to attend.

So in order to play against Everton on Saturday and avoid a £900 fine, Aubameyang has submitted a medical certificate proving he was ill and that he's since recovered.

This will come as great news to Arsenal fans, who may now get the chance to see Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil and Mkhitaryan play together at the Emirates Stadium.

Best of luck to you, Everton...
