NXT is in a good position right now with a stacked roster, despite losing some huge names over the years such as Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn and more.

Along the way, NXT will continue to lose more stars as the Performance Center either continues churning out their own projects or singing some of the biggest names from the independent circuit, such as Candice LeRae and Ricochet, most recently.

NXT SUCCESS

One of the biggest advantages of being on the NXT roster right now is that you receive guidance from some of the best. While the late Dusty Rhodes was a massive influence on the stars of NXT, they now also have Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels hovering around and offering expert guidance and insight on how to better themselves.

Combine the offerings of The Heartbreak Kid along with the guidance of Triple H who has taken NXT to new heights, and it’s no wonder why most of the NXT stars end up as some massive names when they’re built in the right way.

Most of them impressed the night before the Royal Rumble at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia such as Aleister Black, along with Johnny Gargano and Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas who put on one of the greatest matches in recent memory.

However, according to PWInsider, there’s one NXT who has impressed so much recently that Michaels has handpicked him as his protege. Another entertaining match from the night came from Kassius Ohno and The Velveteen Dream, with Dream emerging victorious. The source is claiming that Velveteen Dream is now Michaels’ protege with both fans and wrestlers agreeing that Patrick Clark under this gimmick has a bright future ahead of him with championship gold in his destiny.

VELVETEEN DREAM

His feud with Aleister Black was voted as the 2017 NXT Rivalry of the Year which featured an incredible story and match. Kevin Owens also spoke highlight of him when he claimed that people will be saying Dream’s name for years to come.

Edge is another legend that has spoken highly of the former Tough Enough competitor and compared his short run in the wrestling business and his gimmick as a mix of Rick Rude and Prince.

It comes as no surprise that HBK has selected Velveteen Dream as a young star to focus on, as he looks the part and could be a goldmine for the WWE for years to come. With legendary guidance from Michaels, Dream will only get better and better as he continues to take his advice on board.

When you consider that he’s still only 22 years old, Michaels could be someone who makes Velveteen Dream a future star and ensures that soon, NXT is a brand that can be built around him.
