While all of the focus is on the Elimination Chamber and the supposed predictability of Roman Reigns emerging victorious, Brock Lesnar has taken somewhat of a backseat for a while as The Beast Incarnate waits to see who his WrestleMania opponent will be.

Unless WWE always planned on swerving the fans in the biggest way possible, it’s almost a certainty that The Big Dog will not only meet Lesnar at WrestleMania again in a rematch from their WrestleMania 31 clash, but he’ll also defeat him this time as there won’t be a Seth Rollins waiting in the wings.

WRESTLEMANIA

For so much time now, it’s been speculated that this will be Reigns’ coronation and he’ll go from defeating The Undertaker to defeating Lesnar the year after - who is the superstar who conquered the streak. So, it’s quite a big accolade and makes you wonder what the plans could be for Lesnar following his outing in New Orleans, Louisiana in a few months.

It’s no secret that Lesnar’s WWE contract is expiring shortly after WrestleMania 34 and WWE finds themselves in a familiar position to WrestleMania 31, only that time, Lesnar announced his new deal on ESPN but it doesn’t like WWE is going down the same route this year.

WWE does have a clause to extend Lesnar’s deal through to August which looks to be the case, but it also seems like they’re probably coming to terms with the fact that they won’t have Lesnar for much longer, especially now that they have another bona fide MMA star in Ronda Rousey who is expected to be paired with Paul Heyman soon due to her lack of microphone skills.

TWO PLANS

As of this writing, there are two stories on what could go down for Lesnar. The first is something UFC president Dana White has said himself - he expects Lesnar to return to the Octagon and even fight in 2018.

When you consider that Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic are busy preparing for their superfight, Lesnar could be on the horizon for the winners if he makes a UFC return, while Jon Jones will still be a speculated opponent despite their recent situations.

The second plan comes from Cageside Seats who are claiming that WWE is going to extend Lesnar’s deal and are interested in booking him in a feud against Bobby Lashley, who is an MMA star in his own right as well as being a former WWE star. Lashley is currently a free agent with Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claiming that WWE has the upper hand against NJPW in the chase for his signature.

Meltzer has also claimed that Lesnar is unaware of these plans, but both seem like a real possibility in 2018 with his contract ticking down.
