The sports entertainment company is facing the truth.

And it comes with their 205 Live brand. WWE had been planning to start running stand alone 205 Live events in 2018. The shows took place during the weekend of January 18th-20th.

WWE was looking for smaller venues in the Northeast to run, which is something similar that Triple H has done with NXT events.

It was also noted in a report by PWinsider.com that WWE is taking a, “walk before they run,” stance when it comes to the 205 Live events experiment.

The hope that WWE officials have is to do 2-3 weekend shows a month but beyond the planned January shows, and possible February dates, nothing has been set in stone. WWE then announced the events in an official manner.

You have to give WWE a lot of credit for making the decision to bring back the cruiserweight division.

It was all due to Triple H, who came up with the idea for the Cruiserweight Classic that aired on the WWE Network. It featured the best talents in the world.

205 Live premiered on November 29, 2016, and airs following SmackDown Live. The Raw brand was originally established as the exclusive home of the division during the brand extension last year.

However, following the premiere of 205 Live, the cruiserweight stars appear on both Raw and 205 Live as well as making appearances on NXT.

And here comes the bad sign. PWinsider.com is reporting that after the lack of success of the couple of 205 Live events, WWE has no plans on doing any more anytime soon. This move may have been influenced by Enzo Amore.

The idea for Amore on the Cruiserweight show would be in order to help out the division as it lacks star power. He can talk. There’s no doubt about that, but his in-ring skills might need to be sharpened up. He would help the division as he is great on the microphone and sells merchandise. Well, WWE ended up pulling the trigger on the idea.

There were some concerns that his merchandise may take a hit with sales but that may not be the case due to him making occasional appearances on Raw. WWE officials are hoping that his appearances on 205 Live will help viewership of the struggling brand on the WWE Network.

It should be noted that Amore had no prior wrestling experience before WWE signed him in August of 2012. If you recall, the way Amore got the title match was a result of a match that took place on September 5th on 205 Live.
