Al Horford capped a standout display with a buzzer-beating jumper that helped the Boston Celtics squeeze out the Portland Trail Blazers 97-96 for their fourth successive victory.

Horford sank the game-winning bucket from 15 feet as the clock ticked towards zero to finish with a haul of 22 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Damian Lillard’s free throw lifted the Trail Blazers into a 96-95 lead with 7.2 seconds left but his 21-point haul came in a losing cause against the Eastern Conference leaders.

Atlanta also left it late as Kent Bazemore’s three-pointer with 6.7 seconds remaining gave the Hawks a 99-96 victory over the New York Knicks.

The Hawks trailed 93-87 with a little over two minutes left but held their nerve at their death, with Bazemore bagging a 19-point haul at Madison Square Garden.

The Oklahoma City Thunder crashed to a fourth successive defeat as the Los Angeles Lakers claimed a 108-104 win behind 20 points from Brook Lopez and 19 from Julius Randle.

Nicolas Batum’s 22 points helped the Charlotte Hornets overcome a 21-point deficit to edge out the Phoenix Suns 115-110.

The Milwaukee Bucks sauntered to a 109-94 victory over the Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors pulled away down the stretch as they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 101-86.
