At the end of January, the 25h anniversary of Raw aired giving a whole generation of fans a chance to get that nostalgia kick wrestling so often brings.

The trip down memory lane saw Stone Cold Steve Austin return at the top of the show and deliver Stone Cold Stunners to both Vince and Shane McMahon. How would the show get better from there, right?

D-Generation-X, Scott Hall, the Dudley Boyz, Christian and a whole host of other names would feature on the show throughout the night with the Royal Rumble just six days away.

The Royal Rumble is known to have a few surprises in store every single year, and this incarnation of the event was no different.

Of course, Batista returned to the company in 2014 and won the battle royal and earning himself a shot at WrestleMania.

Shinsuke Nakamura won the event this year to book a date with AJ Styles in New Orleans on April 8, but there was still a big return during the Rumble.

Rey Mysterio entered at number 27 and lasted nine minutes before getting eliminated fifth from last, but the fans warmly received the former two-time world champion and have been hoping he will return full-time.

That's yet to happen, but the 43-year-old told the Mirror it could be in the works.

“I want to say that there is a big possibility that I will be back. [We’re] figuring out what the situation is, you know from both ends. But there is definitely a positive feedback on behalf of the fans, on behalf of the WWE staff and behalf of myself man. I think we’re possibly going to sit down and negotiate something where we can both work together and have a good time and enjoy.”

Mysterio also wanted to thank the fans for the warm reception he received, especially after he got a very different reaction when he came out number 30 in 2015.

“It’s been incredible. I have nothing to say but to thank the fans for their loyalty, for their respect, for being a Rey Mysterio fan from day one… and for all those fans that have never seen me on TV, because this is a new generation of fans that are watching the WWE.

"So to all the new fans that have heard about Rey Mysterio, or played as me in a video game, or seen me on the Network, for the first time if you got the chance to see me at the Royal Rumble, thank you very much for being part of it as a fan.”

Whether Rey would head for 205 Live or not remains to be see, but the WWE Universe will welcome him back with open arms regardless.
