To say that Tiémoué Bakayoko has had a difficult start to his Chelsea career would be an understatement. The midfielder signed from Monaco for £40 million in the summer and it was believed he would be the perfect replacement for the Manchester United-bound Nemanja Matic. That it hasn’t quite worked out like that. While Matic has been impressing for Jose Mourinho’s United, Bakayoko has really struggled for Antonio Conte’s side. And his Chelsea career hit rock-bottom during Chelsea’s trip to Watford. The Frenchman was booked twice in the space of five first-half minutes, eventually receiving a red card after just half an hour at Vicarage Road.Terrible.To make matters even worse, the travelling supporters certainly weren’t going to applaud him off the pitch.

CHELSEA FANS CHANT TOWARDS BAKAYOKO

Instead, they reportedly showed their displeasure as he trudged off the pitch with chants of: “You’re f***ing sh*t.”

Ouch.

Bakayoko seemingly couldn’t understand what the supporters were singing because he was seen clapping them as he walked off.

Maybe he was being sarcastic and saying ‘thanks for your support…’

Either way, things got even worse for those travelling Chelsea fans.

That’s because 12 minutes later, Thibaut Courtois brought down Gerard Deulofeu inside the penalty area giving Troy Deeney to chance to open the scoring - which he did.

We certainly wouldn’t like to have been Bakayoko in that Chelsea dressing room at half-time.

CONTE ON BAKAYOKO'S IMPROVEMENT

While Chelsea fans clearly don’t rate him, Conte was defending his summer signing last month by claiming he’s starting to show signs of improvement at Stamford Bridge.

“I repeat I’m not worried about Baka,” Conte declared.

“Baka is a young player and now he’s starting to understand he’s in a club like Chelsea, a great club, and I’m very happy because he’s showing me to have the right desire, the right will, to improve himself to try to be better.”

We wonder if he still thinks that now…
