Just like Bournemouth last week, Watford gave their survival chances a massive boost by recorded a shock victory over Chelsea. The Hornets triumphed 4-1 thanks to goals from Troy Deeney, Darryl Janmaat, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra. The home side took a first-half lead when Deulofeu was brought down by Thibaut Courtois inside the penalty area.Deeney stepped up and smashed the ball past the Belgian goalkeeper, who decided to stay rooted to the spot. But what happened next could get the striker in a spot of bother. He wheeled away in jubilation and was seen sticking up his middle finger on both hands, presumably at the Chelsea fans.

DEENEY EXPLAINS WHY HE DID IT

However, according to Sky Sports reporter Michelle Owen, he claims he did it in response to speculation linking him with a move in recent weeks.

Regardless of Deeney's reasoning, football fans want to see Deeney banned for his actions.

DELE ALLI GOT A BAN

Earlier this season, Dele Alli was banned by FIFA for one match after his one-finger salute during England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

On that occasion, Alli was actually aiming his gesture at teammate Kyle Walker but FIFA still saw fit to suspend him.

In a statement, they said: “Following the incident that occurred during the match between England and Slovakia on 4 September 2017, Dele Alli has been sanctioned with a suspension for one official match and a fine of 5,000 Swiss francs for making an offensive and unsporting gesture.

“Although the disciplinary committee was not convinced that the player directed the gesture at the referee, and regardless of whether it was allegedly directed at a team-mate, it did consider such gesture to be offensive and unsporting and therefore it amounted to a violation of article 57 of the Fifa disciplinary code.”

If Alli gets a one-match ban for sticking his middle finger up at a teammate, what will Deeney get for doing it to opposition fans?

We’ll find out in the coming days, no doubt.
