Everyone has their own opinion on Cristiano Ronaldo and whether the Real Madrid man is declining or just experiencing a tough season. Now 33 years old following his birthday last week, Ronaldo has scored just eight goals in 17 La Liga games this campaign - 12 behind his rival, Lionel Messi (20).Goals have been easy to come by in the Champions League, though, with the Portuguese scoring nine in Real's six group games. So is he really declining? Perhaps not, though Gary Lineker firmly believes he's been surpassed by Messi, Neymar and even Harry Kane.Speaking at a recent event in Spain, Lineker was asked to pick between Ronaldo and the aforementioned three one by one. Here were his responses to each question:"I like Cristiano a lot, but Messi is from another world. Neymar, but when he played in Barcelona. Neymar is the future, Cristiano has been great. For the future, Kane."It's in the Champions League where Ronaldo thrives and next Wednesday he will have the chance to increase his tally against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16.PSG travel to the Bernabeu for the first leg and Unai Emery's side will know all too well just how good Ronaldo has been in Europe this season. That's according to Kylian Mbappe anyway. Speaking on Tuesday, the 19-year-old was asked the tricky question: "Is Ronaldo on the decline?" but gave a pretty epic answer.

MBAPPE'S IN NO DOUBT

Mbappe told reporters:

"No, Ronaldo is not on the decline. If he is on the decline, there are many more players on the decline then. He is a great player.

"But we hope he will remain quiet against us. We will prepare for the game by paying attention to all their strengths and he is one of their strengths in the team."

Ronaldo may be playing against Mbappe for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals next week, but he will certainly appreciate the young Frenchman's support.

In terms of the actual game, Mbappe hopes to see Angel Di Maria start against his former employers following the Argentine's hat-trick against Sochaux in the Coupe de France.

"We all know very well how important Di Maria is to us," he added. "When he is like that, it's good for the whole team and it allows us to win a few games in a row.

"Yes, he deserves to start against Real Madrid, but I'm not the coach. But he does some beautiful things. It's great for everyone."
