Veteran full-back Patrice Evra looks set to be reunited with David Moyes at West Ham, four years after their disastrous season together at Manchester United.

The Scottish manager replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford in 2013 but lasted just nine months before he was sacked.

Evra moved to Juventus months later but has been without a club since Marseille terminated his contract in November.

The eccentric Frenchman was handed a UEFA season ban after he aimed a kick at a Marseille fan ahead of a Europa League game.

Moyes, 54, was appointed West Ham manager in November and looks set to add Evra to his ranks, according to various reports.

The Hammers skilful left-back Arthur Masuaku is currently serving a six-game suspension for spitting at an opponent - so a short-term deal for the 36-year-old full-back could make a lot of sense.

Evra has never spoken badly of his former manager to the press but the Manchester Evening News reported on a bizarre argument over bacon sandwiches in 2014.

Moyes and Evra's peculiar 2014 row

According to the Manchester Evening News, the former Man United pair were involved in a strange argument in a lounge at Manchester Airport before the Reds flew out for a Champions League away game.

The Scottish boss was reportedly furious at Evra for taking a bacon sandwich which had been offered by the airport staff.

On the flight, Evra supposedly made a passenger announcement, explaining that there had been a change to the in-flight menu and that it would be bacon sandwiches all round.

Moyes was reportedly not amused.

"You always feel responsible even when David Moyes was in charge", said Evra soon after Moyes was sacked. "When I spoke with him I put the players before everything because we are on the pitch.

"I never point at anyone else. If I have to say something to David Moyes I will say it to him and not in the paper. I am not that kind of man. I never hide behind something because I have so much respect for the club. This year, everyone failed."
