It appears that WWE officials and its Chairman Vince McMahon couldn’t have come up with anything better for this show.

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Kansas City, MO at the Sprint Center on the USA Network, the Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens match was declared a no contest due to interference from AJ Styles.

The sports entertainment company had been hyping this match for one week to help build up the contest. If you recall, Styles retained his WWE Title against Owens and Zayn in a Handicap Match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view last month in Philadelphia.

Styles made his name known while in TNA Wrestling, now known as Impact Wrestling, from 2002–2013.

While in the promotion, Styles held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship three times and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice. Also, he was the first holder of the X Division Championship, a title he held six times.

Styles was the first wrestler ever to complete the TNA Triple Crown and the TNA Grand Slam. Styles accomplishments continued from there.

He appeared in Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2002–2006 where he became the first ROH Pure Champion.

In 2014, Styles signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and won his first of two IWGP Heavyweight Championships in his debut match with the company.

Styles first appeared on WWE television in 2002 but turned down a developmental contract he was offered by the company.

He signed a multi-year contract with WWE fourteen years later in January 2016 and made his re-debut at that month's Royal Rumble.

After appearing at his first WrestleMania that April against Chris Jericho, Styles headlined multiple pay-per-view events and won winning WWE Championship at Backlash in September.

He held the title up until 2017's edition of the Royal Rumble in January. Also in 2016. Styles has also won the United States Championship twice.

It was announced that Styles would defend the WWE Title against Owens and Zayn in a Triple Threat Match at Fastlane.

WWE Fastlane is set to take place on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. This will be an exclusive SmackDown brand event and the final PPV event before Wrestlemania 34.

Many fans of the sports entertainment company believe that this is just a recycled idea for this match at Fastlane as they are just trying to waste time until WrestleMania 34 as Shinsuke Nakamura, who won the Royal Rumble and declared that he would challenge for the WWE Title at the event.

It’s likely that Styles will be champion going into the biggest show of the year for the promotion. We’ve attached screenshots of comments from WWE fans who reacted to this match being made. If the photos do not show up below, please click here.
