Tony Bellew's rivalry with David Haye began in late 2016 but has managed to extend itself all the way into May of 2018 when their delayed rematch is set to take place.Bellew beat Haye back in March of last year with an 11th round TKO and negotiations over a rematch reportedly began the following July, although Bellew openly considered other options.Haye pulled out of the rematch in November after an arm injury, opening up Bellew's calendar and leading to several potential opponents offering an interim fight.Among those were a returning Tyson Fury and former British Heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte who both appeared desperate to fight the Liverpudlian.Eventually, however, the rematch with Haye was merely rescheduled for May 5th, ending speculation over Bellew fighting another of boxing's big names.Bellew put himself on the radar, however, and despite having a fight already scheduled, that hasn't stopped him being talked about. One of the camps talking about the 35-year-old is that of Andre Ward - recently retired, but considered by some to be the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.Ward and Bellew had tentative discussions last year, but Ward's coach Virgil Hunter believes further talks could bring his fighter back to the ring.“If they put enough money on the table, you would have to consider it," said Hunter. "I think that fight was talked about [in the past] if I’m not mistaken. Bellew didn’t like the terms so that’s why it didn’t take off."Bellew quickly got wind of the comments and appeared very open to the idea of fighting one of the best in the world - although it came with a warning as well as respect. You can see Bellew's tweet below:

The scouser is quick to remind people that he does have another fight coming up, but his eagerness for a meeting with Ward is clear.

Whether he's getting ahead of himself or not is certainly arguable, however, as defeat at the hands of Haye would certainly hurt any chance he has at another huge fight.

Still, with Fury, Wilder, and Ward all open to a lucrative bout, Bellew's future could be golden - if he can finally shut Haye down.
