Roberto Firmino has firmly entrenched himself as a fan favourite on the Anfield terraces recently. Since the arrival of enigmatic manager Jurgen Klopp, the Brazilian forward has thrived already scoring 19 goals this season across all competitions.

The 26-year-old possesses an incredible work rate, and is the spearhead of Klopp’s high pressing system constantly harrying defenders and never giving them a moment to rest.

Firmino’s ability to hold up the ball and subtly drift into space has given new signing Mohammed Salah to burst forward and notch 29 goals for the Reds in all competitions since his arrival, while Sadio Mane, Liverpool’s player of the year last year, also benefits greatly from the Brazilian's guile and positional nous.

However, since the departure of Philippe Coutinho in a blockbuster move to Barcelona, Liverpool fans have been fraught with worry that Firmino may follow his best friend out of the club.

Many will be breathing a monumental sigh of relief however after the Brazilian's recent comments in which he suggested that he is very happy in the red half of Merseyside and wants to be at Anfield for many years to come.

“Liverpool are one of the greats in Europe and being able to be part of the history of such a great club is gratifying to me,” he told Esporte.

“I work hard every day to give my best and I believe that the fans, the coaching staff and the board recognise my delivery by wearing that shirt.

“I’m very happy here at Liverpool and I do not see myself out of that club for years to come.

“I believe I am living one of the best phases of my career and I owe much to the trust that the club has placed in me from the beginning.”

Firmino also went on to back the project that Jurgen Klopp is slowly piecing together at Liverpool, believing that something special is on the horizon for the Reds.

“Klopp is a fantastic guy. I rate him as an extremely professional coach, perfectionist, and a winning mentality.

“We will face Porto in the round of 16 and we will have to make two good performances to secure the place in the next phase. Despite the significant loss of Coutinho, I believe that our group can still finish the season by fighting for the title and making good performances.

“While we have chances, we will fight for titles of all the competitions that we dispute. We have a qualified team with very good players and a coach who has a winning mentality. The advantage of Manchester is certainly too great, but we will continue to fight as long as we have chances.”

Firmino’s partnership with Salah and Mane is already one of the most scintillating attacking line-ups in Europe and has the potential to be a title-winning one in coming years.
